Datura, also commonly known as Devil's Trumpet, Toloache or Jimson weed, is a poisonous member of the nightshade family. Known by its heavy reputation for its dangerous effects, it's also known for being dual natured in cultures where its revered. Both a protector and a lover, a poison and a medicine, a glimpse into heaven or a descent into hell, this plant is surrounded by wonder and mystery. Used entheogenically, decoratively and medicinally by cultures around the globe, Datura is one of the most universal sacred plants. Physical uses include analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, anticholinergic, anti-nausea, anti-anxiety, antidepressant, aphrodisiac, and sedative.
